The Kalsubai range, which includes some of the highest peaks in the Sahyadris, includes Ratangad fort. The best views of the surrounding peaks and the Bhandardara dam can be found in Ratangad. When you walk along the fort's edge, watch the massive cliffs unfold in front of your eyes, one after the other.
Ratangad Fort is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Maharashtra. This location is about 4255 feet above sea level and is located in the Ahmednagar district. This fort is surrounded by the great mountains of Kulang, Alang, Kalsubai, Katrabai, Ajoba, and Ghanchakkar in the Ajoba mountain range.
Just a few forts, including Ratangad, may demonstrate the ruggedness of the Sahyadris. A big draw is standing in the "Eye of the Needle." Ratangad is the ideal trek for those who want to spend time in caves.
Ratanwadi village is the starting point for the trek. Once you've arrived in the village, make your way to the Amruteshwar temple. Hemadpanti is a 1,200-year-old temple. Beautiful and intricate stone carvings and sculptures adorn the walls of this temple. The Pravara River runs through the temple grounds.
How to Reach ratanwadi:
By Railway-
Ratangad is 56 kilometers from the Igatpuri railway station. From Mumbai and Nasik, numerous trains can take you to Igatpuri.
Get off at Kalyan and get a train to Igatpuri if you're coming from Pune. From Igatpuri to Ratanwadi, you can take a local shared jeep.
By Road-
Take the Sangamner-Akole-Bhandardara Road if you're coming from Pune or Nasik. A diversion on the left side, just before the Bhandardara dam, leads to Ratanwadi.
Take the Igatpuri-Ghoti-Bhandardara Road if you're coming from Mumbai. Take the same deviation as before after passing through the Bhandardara dam. This detour will now be on your right side.
